It may still be six-and-a-half weeks until Christmas, but in many places, preparations are already starting, such as above at Madrid’s Atocha railway station. But for some, the festive spirit is tempered by other considerations.
The Union of Consumers has written to the mayor of Seville, Alfredo Sánchez, asking him to ensure the city does not allow Christmas street lights to be left on for too long, “with the double objective of reducing CO2 emissions and protecting the economies of Spanish families”.

No dia em que os nossos políticos inauguram as iluminações de Natal em Lisboa, fica esta notícia de Espanha para reflexão. As medidas para redução de emissões de CO2 continuam a ser assunto de pouca importância - não iluminam tanto a vaidade política como as preocupações, genuínas, com a conservação e melhoramento do Ambiente da capital.
